This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Conduct testing and routine maintenance on power equipment within Transmission and Distribution substations.
• Test and maintain electro-mechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor relays.
• Test and maintain pilot channel equipment, which includes power line carrier, pilot wire, transfer, transfer trip, fiber optic, CVTs, line tuners, and line traps.
• Test and maintain controls and communications systems.
• Read and accurately interpret substation drawings, including single line drawings, AC and DC schematics, panel wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings.
• Assist in drafting procedures and/or test plans for maintenance and construction projects.
• Read and confirm voltage and current inputs to relays.
• Verify local and SCADA metering, alarms, and conduct trip testing.
• Calibrate relays and confirm the operation of function switches.
• Troubleshoot and repair substation relaying and control systems.
• Commission new substations, power equipment, relays, pilot channel equipment, controls, and communications systems.
• Plan, schedule, and execute testing activities efficiently, ensuring timely completion without service interruptions.
• Provide technical project support to Field Service staff.
• At least 5 years of field experience in commissioning, panel and equipment checkout, relay calibration, and testing and repairing substation relaying and control systems.
• Desirable experience in substation design, construction, commissioning, or SCADA/Fault Data/SER/Integration-Automation equipment installation and testing.
• Understanding of 3-phase power systems along with power system protection and control schemes.
• Familiarity with test equipment and related software.
• Proficient in the use of test equipment, tools, and wiring.
• Capability to interpret wiring and elementary diagrams.
• Basic testing skills to perform the specified duties.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to learn and apply testing procedures for various types of substation equipment swiftly.
• Effective communication skills with diverse groups.
• Ability to learn and implement client-specific switching procedures and safety protocols.
• Ability to reference and complete tasks as outlined in relevant specifications.
• Proficient in English communication, both written and verbal.
• Ability to perform regular field work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• Strong interpersonal skills, communication abilities, business acumen, and management capabilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
