Senior QA/Automation Test Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee quality engineering for designated applications, platforms, and projects.

• Define test strategies, quality benchmarks, testing methodologies, automation goals, and criteria for release readiness.

• Design, develop, support, and enhance large-scale automated testing frameworks.

• Create reusable automation for functional, API, integration, regression, UI, database, and end-to-end testing.

• Incorporate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.

• Formulate test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and associated testing documentation.

• Analyze requirements and architecture to ensure comprehensive test coverage and traceability.

• Carry out and supervise functional, integration, performance, regression, system, user acceptance, and release validation testing.

• Facilitate defect triage, quality assessments, root cause investigations, and verification of corrective actions.

• Engage in sprint planning, backlog grooming, architecture discussions, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

• Work collaboratively with developers, architects, product owners, business analysts, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders.

• Promote continuous integration, continuous delivery, deployment quality, release automation, and environmental stability.

• Guide and mentor junior and mid-level QA engineers and automation specialists.

• Conduct peer reviews and spearhead process enhancement and innovation initiatives.

• Report on testing status, risks, dependencies, and recommendations.

• Enhance automation coverage, execution speed, reliability, reporting, defect leakage, and production quality metrics.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field; a suitable combination of education and four years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

• Capability to obtain Public Trust clearance.

• Seven years of professional experience in Software Quality Assurance, Test Automation, or Quality Engineering.

• At least five years of experience in designing and implementing automated testing frameworks and solutions.

• Proven experience leading testing initiatives for large-scale enterprise applications.

• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, SAFe, or similar delivery methodologies.

• Experience in supporting CI/CD and DevSecOps environments.

• Proficiency in test automation architecture and framework design; functional, integration, regression, system, API, database, and end-to-end testing; quality engineering practices; defect lifecycle management; root cause analysis; test strategy; risk-based testing; continuous integration/testing; enterprise SDLC and release management; quality metrics and governance.

• Strong background in Java or similar object-oriented programming languages.

• Experience in developing and maintaining automation frameworks.

• Familiarity with TestNG, JUnit, NUnit, Selenium, Katalon, or comparable testing technologies.

• Knowledge of SQL and database validation techniques.

• Experience with source control platforms such as Git.

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders while managing multiple priorities.

• Additional desirable experience includes BDD, TDD, contract testing, service virtualization, AI-assisted testing, cloud platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, distributed systems, microservices, serverless/API-first applications, security testing, OWASP, performance testing, observability, SRE, insurance, and relevant certifications.
