Senior QA Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Engage in Agile Scrum ceremonies, which include backlog grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

• Advocate for quality and testability right from the inception of a story.

• Develop and manage automated tests for web UI, REST APIs, and databases.

• Oversee regression suites, enhance coverage, address or eliminate flaky tests, and execute tests in CI/CD after every deployment and nightly.

• Assess HIPAA and SOX compliance, focusing on PHI handling, access control, logging, and requirements traceability.

• Examine test outcomes, prioritize failures, identify root causes, and facilitate resolution through reproducible bug reports.

• Verify scheduled nighttime and off-hours deployments, ensuring post-deployment health in both lower and production environments.

• Take part in risk assessments, validation processes, and release readiness reviews.

• Provide evidence-based go/no-go quality recommendations.

• Ensure traceability from requirements and specifications through test cases to results.

• Utilize AI-assisted tools for test authoring, failure triage, and coverage analysis.

• Mentor junior QA engineers through collaborative coding and code review.

• Assist internal users with troubleshooting as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years in software QA, with at least 5 years dedicated to writing test automation.

• Proficient programming skills in at least one automation language, preferably Java and/or Python.

• Hands-on experience with UI automation using Playwright or Selenium.

• API testing proficiency with tools like REST Assured, Postman, or similar, including schema, contract, and authentication checks.

• Experience executing tests in CI/CD environments utilizing GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar, with reporting tools such as Allure.

• Strong SQL skills, particularly with MySQL, and a meticulous approach to regulated test data.

• Familiarity with performance and load testing using tools like JMeter, k6, or Gatling.

• Working knowledge of HIPAA, HL7, and FHIR standards.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• ISTQB/ASTQB certification is preferred.

• Experience with AWS (ECS/Fargate, Lambda, S3) or Azure, as well as Docker, is preferred.

• Background in a regulated environment such as a CLIA/CAP lab, FDA, or SOX is preferred.

• Familiarity with genetic testing, molecular biology, or other scientific disciplines is a strong advantage but not mandatory.
