Senior Python Data Scraping Engineer – Freelance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of comprehensive data extraction workflows across intricate websites, ensuring thorough coverage, precision, and dependable delivery of structured datasets.

• Utilize available tools and tailored workflows to enhance data gathering, verification, and task execution while adhering to specified requirements.

• Guarantee consistent extraction from dynamic and interactive web sources, modifying strategies for JavaScript-rendered content and evolving site behaviors.

• Uphold data quality standards through validation checks, consistency controls across sources, formatting guidelines, and systematic verification prior to delivery.

• Expand scraping operations for extensive datasets by employing efficient batching or parallel processing techniques.

• Track failures and ensure stability against minor alterations in site structure.

• Utilize tools such as Apify, OpenRouter, and other technologies, complemented by technical expertise and customized methods.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, web scraping, automation, or software development.

• Extensive experience in Python web scraping, including tools like BeautifulSoup, Selenium, or comparable technologies, with a focus on dynamic content (JS, AJAX, infinite scroll) and API usage via proxies.

• Proven track record of extracting data from complex structures, including hierarchies, archived pages, and inconsistent HTML formats.

• Strong foundation in data cleaning, normalization, and validation, providing structured datasets in formats such as CSV, JSON, or Google Sheets.

• Established experience in managing anti-bot mechanisms and dynamic site architectures at scale.

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure like AWS or its equivalents, as well as containerization using Docker in practical workflows.

• Practical experience with LLM frameworks such as LangChain, OpenRouter, or similar technologies applied to automation tasks.

• Excellent attention to detail and a firm commitment to data accuracy.

• Self-motivated work ethic with the capability to troubleshoot independently.

• Proficiency in English at an Upper-intermediate (B2) level or above.

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related technical disciplines is advantageous.

• A GitHub link is considered a plus.
