Senior Python Data Scraping Engineer – Freelance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of comprehensive data extraction workflows across intricate websites, guaranteeing thorough coverage, precision, and dependable delivery of structured datasets.

• Utilize available tools and tailored workflows to expedite data collection, validation, and task execution while adhering to established requirements.

• Ensure dependable extraction from dynamic and interactive web sources by adapting strategies to accommodate JavaScript-rendered content and evolving site behaviors.

• Uphold data quality standards through validation checks, cross-source consistency controls, formatting specifications, and systematic verification prior to delivery.

• Scale scraping operations for extensive datasets by employing efficient batching or parallel processing techniques.

• Monitor failures and maintain stability in response to minor structural changes on websites.

• Leverage web scraping, data extraction, and data processing expertise for the Tendem project.

• Employ tools such as Apify, OpenRouter, and other technologies to accomplish scraping and processing tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5+ years of pertinent experience in data engineering, web scraping, automation, or software development (required).

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related technical fields is advantageous.

• Extensive experience in Python web scraping (BeautifulSoup, Selenium, or similar), particularly with dynamic content (JS, AJAX, infinite scroll) and APIs via proxies.

• Demonstrated capability to extract data from complex structures (hierarchies, archived pages, inconsistent HTML).

• Strong foundation in data cleaning, normalization, and validation, resulting in structured datasets (CSV, JSON, Google Sheets).

• Proven experience in managing anti-bot mechanisms and dynamic site structures at scale.

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent) and containerization (Docker) as part of real-world workflows.

• Practical experience with LLM frameworks (LangChain, OpenRouter, or similar) applied to automation tasks.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy.

• Self-motivated work ethic with the ability to troubleshoot independently.

• Proficiency in English: Upper-intermediate (B2) or higher (required).
