Senior Python Data Scraping Engineer, Freelance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of comprehensive data extraction processes across intricate websites, guaranteeing thorough coverage, precision, and dependable delivery of structured datasets.

• Utilize available tools and tailored workflows to expedite data collection, validation, and task execution while adhering to specified requirements.

• Ensure trustworthy extraction from dynamic and interactive web sources, modifying methods for JavaScript-rendered content and evolving site behavior.

• Uphold data quality standards through validation checks, cross-source consistency controls, formatting guidelines, and systematic verification prior to delivery.

• Expand scraping operations for sizable datasets using efficient batching or parallel processing, monitor failures, and maintain stability against minor structural changes on sites.

• Employ tools like Apify, OpenRouter, and other technologies in conjunction with technical expertise and customized strategies.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5+ years of pertinent experience in data engineering, web scraping, automation, or software development (mandatory).

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related technical disciplines is advantageous.

• Extensive experience in Python web scraping, including tools like BeautifulSoup, Selenium, or similar, as well as handling dynamic content (JS, AJAX, infinite scroll) and APIs using proxies.

• Proven capability to extract data from complex structures, including hierarchies, archived pages, and inconsistent HTML.

• Strong background in data cleaning, normalization, and validation, producing structured datasets in formats such as CSV, JSON, and Google Sheets.

• Demonstrated experience in managing anti-bot measures and dynamic site structures at scale.

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, such as AWS or equivalent, and containerization using Docker in real workflows.

• Practical experience with LLM frameworks, such as LangChain or OpenRouter, applied to automation tasks.

• Exceptional attention to detail and dedication to data accuracy.

• Self-motivated work ethic with the ability to troubleshoot independently.

• A link to GitHub is advantageous.

• Proficiency in English: Upper-intermediate (B2) or higher (essential).
