Senior Python Data Scraping Engineer – Freelance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

• Take ownership of comprehensive data extraction processes across intricate websites.

• Guarantee full coverage, precision, and dependable delivery of structured datasets.

• Utilize tools and tailored workflows to expedite data gathering, validation, and task execution.

• Retrieve data from dynamic and interactive web sources, including content rendered by JavaScript.

• Adjust scraping methods in response to evolving site behaviors.

• Maintain data quality through validation checks, cross-source consistency controls, formatting standards, and systematic verification.

• Scale scraping operations for extensive datasets using efficient batching or parallel processing.

• Monitor failures and ensure stability in the face of minor changes in site structure.

• Leverage web scraping, data extraction, and data processing expertise to enhance Tendem project workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in data engineering, web scraping, automation, or software development.

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related technical disciplines is advantageous.

• Extensive experience in Python web scraping, including tools like BeautifulSoup, Selenium, or similar technologies, as well as dynamic content and APIs through proxies.

• Capability to extract data from complex structures such as hierarchies, archived pages, and inconsistent HTML.

• Strong foundation in data cleaning, normalization, and validation, with a focus on delivering structured datasets in formats such as CSV, JSON, and Google Sheets.

• Experience in managing anti-bot mechanisms and dynamic site structures at scale.

• Familiarity with AWS or similar cloud infrastructure and Docker containerization.

• Practical experience with LLM frameworks such as LangChain or OpenRouter applied to automation tasks.

• Keen attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy.

• Ability to work independently with a self-directed work ethic and troubleshoot issues autonomously.

• Proficiency in English at an Upper-intermediate (B2) level or higher.

• A GitHub link is considered a plus.
