This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.
• Conduct sophisticated numerical modeling analyses utilizing finite element, finite difference, discontinuum, dynamic, and coupled-process approaches.
• Formulate modeling strategies, underlying assumptions, calibration techniques, validation protocols, and quality-control benchmarks.
• Deliver numerical modeling insights to support engineering evaluations, risk assessments, and project decision-making.
• Enhance capabilities through innovation, automation, machine learning, and cutting-edge computational techniques.
• Build and maintain client relationships while identifying prospects for numerical modeling services.
• Broaden the numerical modeling project portfolio through business development, proposal assistance, and technical advisory support.
• Lead project teams from the proposal stage to the completion of final deliverables.
• Oversee project scope, budgets, timelines, resources, and communication with clients.
• Prepare and deliver technical reports and recommendations to teams, clients, regulators, and review committees.
• Guide engineers in numerical modeling practices and sound engineering judgment.
• Assist in staff professional growth through technical mentorship and knowledge sharing.
• Cultivate a collaborative technical environment that emphasizes innovation and continuous learning.
• Support feasibility studies, due diligence assessments, and mining project evaluations.
• Contribute to probabilistic and risk-based evaluations.
• Assess the impact of geotechnical and geomechanical risks on project economics, capital expenditures, operations, and asset valuation.
• Engage in risk workshops, failure mode analyses, and decision-support activities.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geomechanics, or a related field, along with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a proven equivalent of experience and/or education.
• A valid U.S. Driver’s License.
• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geomechanics, or a related field (preferred).
• Proven track record of securing and winning consulting contracts.
• Demonstrated experience leading advanced numerical modeling projects for mining and civil infrastructure initiatives.
• Experience in managing complex technical projects.
• Proven experience in client-facing consulting roles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency in FLAC, FLAC3D, 3DEC, ABAQUS, PLAXIS, RS2, RS3, or equivalent numerical modeling software.
• Experience with static, dynamic, and seismic analysis.
• Familiarity with open pit, underground, and tailings projects from inception to operational phases.
• Knowledge of probabilistic methods, risk analysis, and uncertainty quantification.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration or the capability to obtain it.
• Established professional network within the mining and infrastructure industries.
