This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take ownership of and provide comprehensive financial analysis at the portfolio level for Clinical Solutions departments, encompassing budget health, forecast accuracy, margin performance, and risk identification.
• Oversee project financial management throughout the entire lifecycle, from award to closeout, ensuring compliance with financial best practices and internal controls.
• Conduct variance analysis of actual figures, forecasts, and budgets to pinpoint change drivers, scope creep, and emerging risks.
• Collaborate with project finance teams to maintain consistency and integrity of project-level data that contributes to portfolio reporting.
• Assist in enhancing departmental forecasting and planning processes by employing clear and justifiable assumptions.
• Track budget utilization, earned value indicators, and the effects of change orders across portfolios.
• Provide proactive financial insights to facilitate informed decision-making by operational leadership.
• Enhance financial processes, controls, and reporting standards.
• Develop and monitor trial operations KPIs and metrics that connect operational performance to financial results.
• Utilize Excel and Power BI to design scalable dashboards and analyses for portfolio governance and executive reviews.
• Convert complex financial and operational data into actionable insights for stakeholders without a finance background.
• Serve as a finance partner to the heads of Clinical Solutions departments, aiding in planning, performance assessments, and strategic initiatives.
• Create executive-ready presentations that summarize portfolio performance, risks, and actionable recommendations.
• Assist with ad hoc analyses and special projects for Finance, Clinical Operations, and executive leadership.
• Work collaboratively with Project Management, Clinical Operations, Data Management, and Finance teams.
• A Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is necessary.
• Strong expertise in project finance within a Clinical Research Organization (CRO) setting is essential.
• Exceptional analytical and presentation skills are required.
• Ability to engage effectively with department heads and senior operational leaders.
• Experience in portfolio-level financial analysis, forecasting, budget performance assessment, margin analysis, and financial controls is needed.
• Proven experience in conducting variance analysis across actuals, forecasts, and budgets.
• Familiarity with project lifecycles, contract and budget mechanics, and financial drivers in clinical trials is important.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, scenario analysis, and the management of large datasets.
• Proficient in Power BI or similar business intelligence/visualization tools.
• Experience in managing or analyzing clinical trial portfolios and complex project financials is preferred.
• Strong financial and analytical aptitude is necessary.
• Capability to distill complex data into concise narratives and actionable recommendations.
• A keen attention to detail coupled with a strategic, portfolio-level perspective is essential.
