Senior Professional Medical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mississippi.

📋 Description

• Conduct remote reviews of medical records, assigning or verifying the correct CPT and ICD-10 codes.

• Comply with established regulations, guidelines, and HIPAA Privacy and Security policies.

• Review assigned tasks on a daily basis to ensure prompt charge reviews and claim submissions.

• Uphold strict confidentiality regarding protected health information.

• Act as a resource for physicians on issues related to code assignment and documentation policies.

• Address coding edits and resolve coding-related denials from specialty work queues.

• Investigate payer policies and coding guidelines thoroughly.

• Communicate the steps taken to resolve issues with billing personnel.

• Make necessary charge corrections and resubmit claims when applicable.

• Collaborate with physicians, healthcare providers, clinical staff, and both internal and external stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• A High School Diploma is required.

• A foundational Coding Certification is mandatory: CPC, CPC-H, CCA, CCS, or CCS-P.

• Two additional specialty credentials are required.

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in coding Evaluation and Management services is necessary.

• Experience in surgical specialties is required.

• Comprehensive knowledge of medical record content, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICDCM/PCS, and CPT coding systems is essential.

• Ability to review charts and validate documentation for accurate code assignment.

• Familiarity with medical coding and billing systems is necessary.

• Understanding of legal, regulatory, and policy compliance related to medical coding, documentation, and billing is crucial.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.

• Strong verbal, written, and computer communication skills are essential.

• Capacity to work independently as well as in a team setting.

• Self-discipline and effective time management skills for remote work are necessary.

• Ability to maintain composure under stress and respond suitably to dissatisfied individuals.
