Inpatient Coding Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding for 1–4 specialties

• Execute professional fee, facility, or HCC coding

• Deliver coding services that support clients effectively

• Calculate ProFee and/or Facility E/M levels utilizing the company algorithm

• Identify critical care cases based on the patient's acuity

• Code ER surgical procedures to optimize revenue when suitable

• Apply ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes with the highest level of specificity

• Utilize ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT®, and HCPCS codes for diagnoses and procedures

• Interpret coding guidelines to ensure accurate code assignment

• Evaluate the significance of documentation and its impact on reimbursement

• Adhere to AHIMA ethical coding standards along with the company's ethics and compliance program

• Follow internal policies and procedures diligently

• Engage in company-sponsored training and educational opportunities

• Safeguard confidential company and Personal Health Information

• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership


⛳️ Requirements

• Certification required from either AAPC (CPC or COC) or AHIMA (CCS or CCS-P)

• Minimum of 6 months of relevant on-the-job experience

• Consistent, predictable, and timely attendance is essential

• Proficient knowledge and experience with EMR and billing systems

• Access to phone, reliable internet, and current CPT and ICD-10-CM coding references

• Maintain productivity and accuracy levels of 95% or above

• Uphold a quality score of 95% or higher

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in a professional context

• Capable of coordinating, analyzing, observing, making decisions, and adhering to deadlines

• Ability to work independently from home

• Must hold at least one AAPC or AHIMA credential

• Comply with privacy, security, confidentiality, and Personal Health Information regulations

• Ability to work at a computer terminal for 6–8 hours each day

• Occasionally able to lift and move materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
