This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee the development of FieldKit’s hardware and software products in conjunction with in-field partner projects.
• Manage feature prioritization, product roadmaps, and Kanban boards across hardware, firmware, mobile applications, online data portals, FieldKit.org, and printed materials.
• Guide products through various stages including design, prototyping, development, and release.
• Facilitate stakeholder management and feature prioritization input from executive leadership and customer support teams.
• Draft scopes of work, schedules, estimates, tasks, deliverables, assumptions, and dependencies for partner projects.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, identify resource needs, manage risks, track progress, and implement necessary adjustments.
• Lead project teams by establishing roles, workflows, and approval processes.
• Cultivate partner relationships, manage expectations, and address any issues that arise.
• Ensure timely delivery of projects within budget and to the agreed-upon quality standards.
• Provide support for grant reporting and documentation tasks.
• Occasionally oversee hardware production, internal projects, contractors, consultants, onsite installations, field deployments, internal protocols, training, resource discussions, contracts, grant fundraising, communications, sales, and operations.
• Report directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
• Minimum of 4 years of demonstrated experience in managing software product development.
• At least 4 years of proven experience in project management.
• Exceptional time management and prioritization skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, both direct and empathetic.
• Comfortable collaborating with a remote team across different time zones.
• Proficient in actively listening and quickly synthesizing information into essential requirements and actions.
• Capable of identifying implications related to scope, schedule, and budget by posing relevant subject matter or technical questions.
• Proficient in tools such as Google Suite, Monday.com, GitLab, Jira, Trello, and Smartsheet.
• Familiar with design software like Sketch and Adobe Creative Suite.
• A passion for environmental conservation, open technology, or community empowerment.
• Preferred: Experience in managing electrical and mechanical hardware design, development, and production.
• Preferred: Experience with multi-platform products and projects.
• Preferred: Experience on grant-funded projects.
• Preferred: Experience dealing with unpredictability in field or onsite installations.
• Remote position.
• Preference for occasional work from the FieldKit lab in Downtown Los Angeles, though not mandatory.
