Senior Product Designer, Design Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the design system domain: Be the accountable leader of our design system, including components, tokens, patterns, and documentation, ensuring consistency and high quality as the team and product evolve.

• Design products on a daily basis: Integrate into a product team and create end-to-end features across our web platform, mobile app, internal tools, and dashboards – from user flows and wireframes to high-fidelity UI and prototypes.

• Advance the design system into the AI era: Revamp our tokens, components, and documentation so AI agents can interpret and utilize them, facilitating prototypes that align directly with our code. Bridge the gap between design and delivery.

• Collaborate closely with engineering: Ensure alignment between the design system and codebase – synchronizing naming, tokens, and component APIs to maintain a 1:1 relationship between design and code.

• Elevate consistency standards: Establish and advocate for guidelines, review component usage across workflows, and assist other designers in accelerating their work within a shared system.

• Engage in cross-functional collaboration: Partner with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders from discovery to delivery, ensuring the seamless execution of your designs.

• Adapt to various roles as necessary: As a lean team, everyone is expected to contribute to different design needs. You should be willing to engage in projects outside your primary scope to further company success.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in product design, UX/UI, or digital design (either in an agency or in-house), including at least 1 year in a senior or lead position.

• Extensive and demonstrable knowledge of design systems – you have built, scaled, and managed a design system rather than merely using one.

• Strong proficiency in component architecture, design tokens, theming/modes, and documentation, with a systematic approach to naming and organization.

• Advanced skills in Figma – including variables, modes, component properties, and auto-layout. You focus on building systems rather than just screens.

• A solid grasp of how design systems correlate to front-end code (tokens, component structures), and a willingness to work closely with engineers to maintain a 1:1 relationship between design and code. A curiosity about the evolution of AI/agent-assisted design workflows is a notable advantage.

• A proven track record of designing comprehensive product experiences across web, mobile applications, internal tools, and dashboards.

• Exceptional skills in interaction and visual design – you prioritize clarity, hierarchy, and simplifying complex workflows.

• A proactive and highly organized working style – you set the benchmark for structure and thrive in autonomous environments while collaborating closely with PMs and engineers.

• Strong communication abilities – you are comfortable presenting your work, articulating your rationale, and welcoming feedback.

• Experience in agile, fast-paced settings, iterating rapidly based on feedback and data.

• Experience in fintech or B2B SaaS is a plus, but adaptability and curiosity are more critical.
