Senior Product Designer / Design Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Take on design projects in progress, familiarize yourself with prior decisions, and ensure timely delivery.

• Oversee the design for new premium, AI-centric product areas as well as the current platform.

• Spearhead comprehensive design initiatives for the AI-first platform while enhancing and refining the core system.

• Reevaluate current workflows to eliminate obstacles for both frontline and back-office users.

• Create AI interactions, addressing confidence, errors, and scheduler overrides.

• Operate within an AI-assisted development framework utilizing Figma linked to AI coding tools via MCP.

• Craft design flows, states, and interaction patterns throughout the product.

• Utilize strong visual design principles while making practical delivery compromises.

• Engage Product, Engineering, and stakeholders through rationale, prototypes, and supporting evidence.

• Establish the vision for Andgo's product experience.

• Define and uphold UX principles, AI-UX guidelines, standards, and patterns.

• Direct the design system as the platform expands.

• Conduct design reviews to ensure quality across various product areas.

• Influence how design integrates into the delivery cycle and engineering processes.

• Lead, mentor, and nurture the Product Design team, including the Associate Product Designer.

• Contribute to shaping the growth of the design team and the roles of designers within an AI-first development model.

• Foster a culture of design thinking throughout Product and Engineering.

• Lead research and discovery initiatives, planning and facilitating both virtual and in-person sessions.

• Conduct debriefs, synthesize insights and validations, and relay research findings to product decision-makers.

• Establish a continuous discovery approach that supports product direction and the roadmap.

• Report to the VP of Product and collaborate daily with the Product Manager and engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in product design, primarily focused on complex B2B or enterprise software, with a portfolio showcasing work from discovery to final product.

• Proven experience in leading, mentoring, or managing designers, along with a history of elevating the quality of a team's output.

• Strong skills in interaction design and systems thinking, demonstrated through work on intricate, multi-step workflows.

• Expertise in visual design principles, with a portfolio featuring polished, information-rich interfaces.

• Practical judgement: a history of balancing design excellence with delivery constraints and articulating tradeoffs.

• Ability to influence across Product and Engineering, built on sound reasoning rather than authority.

• A track record of establishing design standards and developing or scaling a design system.

• Excellent facilitation and research capabilities, including conducting in-person sessions with frontline and operational users.

• Hands-on experience in designing AI-driven features and participating in AI-assisted design and development workflows.

• Comfort with complex domains. Experience in workforce management, scheduling, healthcare operations, or similar rule-intensive systems is a significant advantage.

• Strong written communication skills: ensuring decisions and rationale are documented for the team to build upon.

• Familiarity with unionized, healthcare, or manufacturing workforces.

• Designing for high-volume mobile usage by frontline staff.

• Experience in establishing a continuous discovery or research practice.
