Senior Product Designer – Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Engage with ongoing design projects, grasp previous decisions, and maintain timely delivery.

• Spearhead design efforts for new premium, AI-centric product domains as well as the current platform.

• Oversee comprehensive design initiatives for the AI-first platform while enhancing the core platform.

• Reassess workflows to minimize friction for both frontline and back-office users.

• Create AI interactions, focusing on aspects such as confidence, errors, and scheduler overrides.

• Operate within an AI-assisted development framework using Figma linked to AI coding tools via MCP.

• Assist in the development of the design system.

• Craft flows, states, and interaction patterns throughout the product.

• Utilize strong visual design principles.

• Make practical decisions regarding shipping and quality trade-offs.

• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and stakeholders by providing rationale, prototypes, and evidence.

• Organize and lead virtual and face-to-face customer discovery sessions.

• Investigate workflows, jobs, workarounds, and successes.

• Conduct debriefs, synthesize insights and validations, and produce customer-facing follow-up summaries.

• Make daily design decisions in alignment with design standards.

• Participate in routine design reviews.

• Collaborate with the VP of Product regarding priorities and direction.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in product design, primarily focused on complex B2B or enterprise software.

• A portfolio that demonstrates end-to-end work from discovery through to the delivered product.

• Strong skills in interaction design and systems thinking, evident through intricate, multi-step workflows.

• Expertise in visual design principles with a refined, information-rich interface showcased in the portfolio.

• Practical judgment in balancing design excellence with delivery timelines.

• Capability to influence Product and Engineering teams through effective reasoning.

• Proven ability to join ongoing projects and make swift progress.

• Comfort in dealing with complex domains; experience in workforce management, scheduling, healthcare operations, or similar rule-heavy systems is a significant advantage.

• Strong facilitation and research abilities, including conducting in-person sessions with frontline and operational users.

• Hands-on experience in designing AI-driven features and engaging in AI-assisted design and development workflows.

• Familiarity with design systems, including component building.

• Excellent written communication skills.

• Experience with unionized, healthcare, or manufacturing workforces is a plus.

• Experience in designing for high-volume mobile usage by frontline staff is also advantageous.

• Must operate as an independent contractor or have an incorporated business arrangement.

• NDA and privacy/security onboarding will be required.

• Availability for Central/Mountain time overlap.

• Willingness to travel occasionally for customer discovery.
