Senior Process Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Lead the conceptualization and detailed engineering design, execution, and implementation of medium-complexity capital projects.

• Create conceptual and detailed engineering designs along with cost estimates for capital projects that support North American manufacturing.

• Develop construction scopes and bid packages for capital projects of varying sizes.

• Coordinate and supervise the installation, checkout, and commissioning of equipment and systems.

• Provide process support, troubleshooting, and optimization during the startup phase.

• Conduct training for manufacturing personnel, including operators, supervisors, QA, and maintenance, on key process operating parameters.

• Transition deliverables and documentation to Plant Operations and Maintenance teams.

• Develop manufacturing alternatives and processing solutions that align with business needs.

• Generate and develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).

• Specify, select, and assess equipment and equipment suppliers.

• Manage budgets, schedules, and resources for process-focused capital projects as necessary.

• Lead multifunctional teams and make critical decisions under pressure and with limited information.

• Collaborate with engineering, plant, manufacturing, operations, safety, quality, regulatory, environmental health and safety, R&D, marketing, procurement, vendors, and other stakeholders.

• May oversee co-ops or interns, including their interviewing and selection process.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in process design, particularly within the food and pharmaceutical sectors.

• Strong knowledge of common process unit operations and equipment, sanitary design and construction practices, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety standards, as well as common equipment suppliers.

• Comprehensive understanding of the design, application, and maintenance of process piping systems, food manufacturing equipment, and process automation and instrumentation.

• Proven proficiency in the food, pharmaceutical, or related industries, including familiarity with manufacturing processes, construction practices, standards, and codes.

• Ability to prioritize solutions and create schedules based on business objectives.

• Strong troubleshooting and optimization capabilities.

• Capability to execute projects within established timelines.

• Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills.

• Excellent interpersonal abilities coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Adaptable to change.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

• At least 4 years of experience in Food Processing, Confectionery, Pharmaceutical, or related fields.

• Experience in process engineering, process design, and project management, including process troubleshooting and optimization.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Food, Agricultural, or a closely related Engineering discipline.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
