Senior Process Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the design and execution of process solutions for food and beverage manufacturing operations.

• Develop processes aimed at achieving project objectives.

• Outline processing steps for products, waste/byproducts, and cleaning systems.

• Calculate equipment rates and design optimal layouts for food plants.

• Create block and process flow diagrams.

• Conduct process calculations and select and size equipment and components.

• Ensure that designs adhere to relevant codes, standards, and sanitary practices.

• Generate P&IDs, equipment specifications, installation specifications, equipment lists, and control narratives.

• Oversee 3D modeling alongside design processes.

• Coordinate third-party equipment engineering and integrate processes into plant infrastructure.

• Assist in procuring equipment and installation packages.

• Identify suppliers and subcontractors, preparing technical bid-package documentation.

• Engage in bid-scope reviews, proposal analysis, design reviews, coordination meetings, submittal reviews, and factory acceptance testing.

• Support the installation of process equipment and take part in subcontractor coordination meetings.

• Travel to sites to provide technical assistance, collaborate with field staff and subcontractors, resolve issues, review installations, and update as-built drawings.

• Aid in commissioning documentation, system testing, functional testing, performance testing, and safety testing.

• Manage system handoff to clients and stakeholders, supplying documentation and training for operational staff.

• Stay current on food manufacturing trends, regulatory requirements, and industry-specific considerations.

• Collaborate with product development, marketing, engineering, architects, manufacturing, project management, and field personnel.

• Carry out other assigned duties.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.

• 1-7 years of experience in food or beverage manufacturing systems.

• Strong skills in leadership and team collaboration.

• Comprehensive understanding of the food industry, process systems, and plant operations.

• Familiarity with startup and commissioning processes and procedures for process systems.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• Innovative mindset with the capacity to devise creative solutions.

• Attention to detail coupled with exceptional organizational skills.

• Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

• Knowledge of industry regulations and standards, including safety, pertinent to food or beverage manufacturing systems.

• Capacity to adapt to different environments and changing project requirements.

• Experience in calibration, startup, and commissioning of food or beverage process systems is preferred.

• Understanding of ingredients and their reactions to heating, cooling, mixing, blending, and pumping.

• Awareness of process controls that support recipe management and product consistency.

• Familiarity with 3A, USDA, or FDA sanitation requirements and regulatory bodies.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, Procore, Bluebeam, Adobe, Power BI, and ACC is preferred.

• Experience in process design and engineering within a design-build or EPC environment.

• Willingness to travel frequently for site visits, project meetings, corporate training, and events.

• Capability to travel internationally and maintain a valid passport.

• Expected travel to be at least 20%.

• Flexibility to travel on short notice for urgent business requirements.

• Ability to work in proximity to machinery and occasional exposure to extreme temperatures, wet environments, and strong odors.

• Capability to lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds.

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, bend, stoop, and reach as necessary.
