Senior PR & Communications Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and steer the Corporate Communications roadmap for the Media, Channels, and Enablement pods.

• Collaborate with pod leaders on yearly planning, campaign schedules, and cross-functional initiatives.

• Develop national media and brand strategies across educational, consumer, and trade media.

• Direct reputation enhancement through earned media, owned channels, AI, and generative search.

• Equip executives and subject matter experts to be effective and confident spokespeople.

• Oversee crisis and issues communication planning, response, and recovery in conjunction with the Senior Director.

• Act as the principal communications decision-maker during crises when the Senior Director is unavailable.

• Lead cross-functional initiatives without direct authority, providing direction and holding team members accountable.

• Manage external PR agencies and consultants to align their efforts with strategic objectives and achieve measurable outcomes.

• Enhance the team's capabilities and mentor communications professionals.


⛳️ Requirements

• 7-10+ years of experience in corporate communications, including national media strategy, internal communications, brand and reputation management, executive communications, and crisis communications.

• Understanding of how PR and earned media impact AI-driven search, summaries, and generative platforms, with a well-defined perspective on how this transforms brand visibility and reputation.

• Experience in K-12, higher education, or another highly regulated, mission-driven consumer sector is strongly preferred.

• Background in a publicly traded company is an advantage.

• Proven track record in designing and executing large-scale media programs with measurable results such as share of voice, message pull-through, and reputation metrics.

• Experience managing external agencies and cross-functional or matrixed teams.

• Experience in developing and mentoring communications talent.

• Bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is a plus.

• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.

• Must be able to pass a required background check.
