This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead and take ownership of intricate root cause analyses that have substantial customer-specific or fleet-wide implications.
• Oversee the entire RCA process, from defining the problem and gathering data to validating root causes and implementing Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
• Facilitate cross-functional problem-solving and corrective measures across product lines, service shops, manufacturing, sourcing, field teams, and design engineering.
• Provide updates on issue resolution progress, technical insights, risk evaluations, and corrective actions to field engineers, executive leadership, customers, and internal stakeholders.
• Develop investigation strategies and oversee the formulation of hypotheses.
• Validate analytical data and field evidence.
• Guide engineers in best practices for Engineering Review (ER) and RCA workflows.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including Design Practices, Standard Work, and Lessons Learned.
• Promote continuous improvement and institutionalize acquired knowledge.
• Address vibration, power train dynamics, and operability challenges impacting gas turbines, steam turbines, and generators.
• Assist in integrating rotating and stationary components throughout the product lifecycle in power train shaft-lines.
• Achieve sustainable, fleet-wide reliability enhancements.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related STEM discipline from an accredited institution.
• At least 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a controls-related role.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in vibration analysis and diagnostics.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (10-20%).
• Availability to provide off-hours or weekend support for urgent issue resolution.
• Demonstrated experience leading structured problem-solving methodologies for complex mechanical and system challenges with cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in RCA methodologies and tools, including 8D, Mind Mapping, and Gantt charts.
• Extensive experience troubleshooting and investigating rotating machinery and power train systems, including gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, load gearboxes, and pumps/motors.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to collaborate across teams and effectively engage with all organizational levels.
• Experience with direct customer interactions.
• Strong project management capabilities, including planning, prioritization, and execution of multi-threaded RCA investigations.
• Familiarity with vibration data collection, DAQ systems (preferably ADRE 408), instrumentation, and testing techniques.
• Knowledge of numerical methods, basic finite element analysis, and rotordynamic calculations.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
