This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.
• Develop the software platform that supports Swiftly's transit data products.
• Upgrade cloud infrastructure and extend services into a second AWS region.
• Enhance the reliability of systems that process real-time transit data.
• Manage the foundation that allows engineers to efficiently and safely utilize AI.
• Lead the migration to Amazon EKS by implementing reusable Kubernetes deployment, autoscaling, networking, and reliability patterns.
• Create designs for multi-region resilience, failover, and data residency.
• Oversee and enhance shared cloud infrastructure while automating provisioning processes.
• Enable self-service observability through versioned dashboards, alerts, and reusable OpenTelemetry instrumentation.
• Construct and manage the AI platform layer utilizing managed model access, reusable tools, templates, and documentation.
• Strengthen CI/CD pipelines and transition workloads to a unified CI platform.
• Document platform-related decisions and ensure alignment between engineering, product, and go-to-market teams.
• Collaborate closely with product teams to tailor platform initiatives to their requirements.
• Take part in an on-call rotation for production systems to minimize repeat incidents.
• Assist in maintaining a 99.9% uptime SLA and ensuring reliable, accessible products.
• Proven experience in building and managing cloud infrastructure on a leading cloud platform; AWS is preferred.
• Practical experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration technologies.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Ansible.
• Experience in constructing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, including transitioning workloads between CI platforms.
• Background in designing or operating multi-region deployments, focusing on failover, data residency, and replicable provisioning.
• Hands-on experience in developing AI tools that are utilized by other engineers.
• Capability to write production-level code or scripts in languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Go, or similar.
• Understanding of secure cloud networking principles, including VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancers, security groups, and IAM.
• Familiarity with observability practices and tools such as Grafana and OpenTelemetry.
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to document platform decisions and foster cross-functional alignment.
• Comfort in troubleshooting production systems and participating in on-call duties.
• A collaborative and pragmatic approach to making technical decisions.
• Interest in creating platforms that empower engineers to work more efficiently and safely.
• Experience with security scanning, intrusion detection, policy-as-code, or other DevSecOps tools is a plus.
• Familiarity with managed API gateways such as Kong is an added advantage.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB, or other database systems is a plus.
• Background in building or operating data pipelines is beneficial.
• Experience in evaluating LLM output quality or assessing the impact of AI tools on developer productivity is a plus.
