Senior Plans Examiner

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Assess construction plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure adherence to the Florida Building Code (FBC), local regulations, and all relevant state and federal laws.

• Analyze plans across various disciplines including Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Energy, and Accessibility.

• Verify that proposed materials, systems, and assemblies meet approved listing standards and Florida Product Approvals.

• Inform architects, engineers, contractors, developers, and property owners of any deficiencies and necessary corrections.

• Offer code references and guidance to assist applicants in attaining compliance.

• Coordinate plan reviews with fire, zoning, utilities, environmental, health, and other relevant departments or agencies.

• Address inquiries from the public and industry professionals concerning building code requirements.

• Interpret and apply the Florida Building Code, including its updates and amendments.

• Keep thorough documentation of plan review notes, approvals, corrections, and correspondence.

• Monitor compliance with Florida Statute requirements, including review timelines.

• Remain informed on FBC updates, legislative changes, and industry standards.

• Maintain ethical standards and ensure consistent and impartial enforcement of codes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Plans Examiner in the State of Florida.

• Possession of a valid Florida Plans Examiner License: “RPX” License or “PX” (Standard Building Plans Examiner plus one commercial Plans Examiner MEP license) is mandatory.

• A valid Florida driver’s license; must be able to travel within the jurisdiction.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Capability to effectively speak before groups of customers or employees of organizations.

• Proficiency in inspection software and digital reporting systems.
