Senior PHP/Symfony Engineer – Integrations, Automation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the architecture for the internal business automation platform, ensuring it is maintainable, monitorable, and scalable.

• Design and oversee data models for customers, orders, leads, accounts, and products.

• Develop and manage daily synchronization processes between ERP systems, eCommerce platforms, and sales tools.

• Integrate eCommerce platforms using GraphQL APIs, bulk operations, and webhooks, as well as other systems through REST and SOAP.

• Ensure reliability in the face of rate-limited APIs and missing records, while safeguarding the quality of write-back data.

• Create browser automation using headless browsers in Node.js and perform web scraping behind proxies.

• Enhance and classify product data utilizing AI models while managing costs and accuracy.

• Operate Symfony Messenger queues, cron jobs, and background workers, addressing any failed messages.

• Sustain production health through alerts, digests, and runbooks, while minimizing alert noise.

• Develop React front-end interfaces for internal users and automate sales engagement and SEO activities.

• Improve unit and end-to-end test coverage while maintaining CI execution.

• Collaborate with an existing developer to refine architecture, monitoring, error handling, and production reliability.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience.

• A degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• Demonstrated experience in building and managing integrations and automations with third-party APIs at scale.

• Proven skills in product architecture: designing and maintaining applications that are maintainable, monitorable, and scalable.

• Strong data modeling capabilities and extensive experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and Doctrine ORM.

• Expert proficiency in PHP 8 and Symfony for back-end development.

• Solid knowledge of caching systems like Redis.

• Practical experience with Symfony Messenger or other messaging queues, along with asynchronous and background processing.

• Familiarity with REST, GraphQL, and SOAP APIs.

• Experience in web crawling and headless browser automation using Node.js.

• Significant experience with modern JavaScript front-end technologies, particularly React.

• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as PHPUnit, Playwright, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Keen attention to detail, creativity, rapid learning ability, and a strong sense of ownership over results.
