Senior PHP Developer – Laravel, Symfony

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Lithuania.

📋 Description

• Design, build, and sustain scalable backend systems utilizing PHP 8.x alongside Laravel or Symfony frameworks.

• Create robust, secure, and high-performance solutions that adhere to fintech standards.

• Develop and manage REST APIs ensuring versioning and backward compatibility.

• Enhance MySQL/MariaDB database performance through query optimization, schema design, and migrations.

• Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Docker-based containerized environments.

• Guarantee code quality by conducting unit, integration, and feature testing along with thorough code reviews.

• Employ SOLID principles, design patterns, and clean architecture methodologies.

• Monitor application performance, pinpoint bottlenecks, and implement necessary optimizations.

• Uphold OWASP standards, secure authentication, data protection, and GDPR compliance best practices.

• Work in collaboration with cross-functional teams to convert business requirements into technical solutions.

• Guide junior and mid-level developers through code reviews and provide technical mentorship.

• Engage in technical decision-making, constructively challenge requirements, and advocate for best practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional experience in software development.

• Expert-level proficiency in PHP 8.x and contemporary development practices.

• More than 5 years of experience with Laravel or Symfony, demonstrating an in-depth understanding of the frameworks.

• Strong background in MySQL or MariaDB, focusing on query optimization, schema design, and normalization techniques.

• Comprehensive understanding of REST API design principles.

• Proficient in Git, including branching strategies, code reviews, and release management workflows.

• Experience with PHPUnit and the creation of testing strategies.

• Practical experience with Docker and production environments utilizing containerization.

• In-depth knowledge of caching strategies and performance tuning.

• Experience in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub.

• Solid grasp of Composer and dependency management practices.

• Comfortable operating within Linux/CLI environments.

• Strong understanding of security best practices applicable to web applications.

• Capability to independently design and architect solutions.

• Strong problem-solving approach focused on maintainability and scalability.

• Confidence to challenge requirements and suggest improved alternatives.

• Ability to translate business needs into effective technical solutions.

• Experience in leading projects or small teams.

• Strong written communication skills suited for asynchronous environments.

• Experience in the fintech or financial services sector is desirable.

• Frontend development skills in Vue.js or React are an added advantage.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably Azure, is a plus.
