This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Conduct investigations into losses, confirm coverage, assess liability and damages, and independently determine compensability.

• Engage in negotiations with other parties and settle claims in accordance with established claims handling guidelines.

• Timely submit initial reports to the MCCA when claims meet the necessary reporting criteria.

• Accurately complete MCCA status reports within designated timeframes.

• Ensure timely and accurate completion of reimbursement requests to the MCCA.

• Collaborate with the accounting department to ensure that balances are aligned.

• Review and analyze various documents and legal pleadings thoroughly.

• Establish and maintain appropriate reserves that reflect the financial exposure of each claim.

• Collaborate with legal counsel to manage litigated claims effectively.

• Manage Michigan PIP Life Expectancy claims involving the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association, including litigated matters that require MCCA settlement authority or approval.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Michigan PIP claims, with MCCA involvement and familiarity with reporting and reimbursement requests.

• AIC or SCLA certification is preferred, though not mandatory.

• Ability to obtain the necessary state licensing as required.

• Proficient in computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite and Excel.

• Proven ability to cultivate positive relationships and partnerships both within the department and across the organization, as well as with external customers.

• Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills to support decision-making.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Demonstrated negotiation skills.
