Senior Claims Examiner

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska.

📋 Description

• Investigate property damage and bodily injury claims assigned to you under the insurance contracts of affiliated companies.

• Determine the necessary information and documentation required for claim evaluation.

• Assign tasks to independent adjusters and review public records and other relevant documents.

• Communicate with insured parties, claimants, and others about information, the claims process, resolution options, and related topics.

• Adhere to all laws and regulations pertaining to claims handling.

• Collaborate with defense counsel and oversee the defense of insured parties at more complex levels, or work alongside internal legal counsel.

• Analyze and ascertain rights and obligations under relevant insurance contracts.

• Work with the Legal Department on matters involving coverage, compliance, and legal issues.

• Assess, evaluate, and approximate liability and losses.

• Detect and report potential fraud to the Special Investigation Unit.

• Apply decision theory principles to assess claim settlement scenarios.

• Set and adjust appropriate case reserves.

• Review, approve, or deny invoices for allocated loss adjustment expenses.

• Manage and evaluate claim diaries and files.

• Negotiate and resolve claims within established authority or recommend resolutions to management.

• Maintain accurate records of communications and necessary claim documentation.

• Stay updated on insurance and claims management principles through professional literature, opinions, periodicals, and conferences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.

• A minimum of three years of relevant work experience.

• Ability to interpret and apply insurance contracts.

• Familiarity with insurance claim procedures, loss evaluation techniques, and claim resolution options.

• Completion of insurance-related courses such as AIC or CPCU.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Strong analytical capabilities.

• Capacity to work independently while also collaborating with others.

• Proficient in conducting investigations.

• Ability to analyze data, apply knowledge and logic, make recommendations, and draw conclusions.
