Senior Claims Examiner

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska.

📋 Description

• Conduct investigations, assess, provide defense when suitable, negotiate, and resolve assigned claims related to property damage and bodily injury.

• Determine the necessary information and documents for evaluating claims.

• Assign tasks and oversee independent adjusters.

• Review public records and other relevant documents.

• Communicate with insured parties, claimants, and others regarding claim details, processes, resolution options, and related issues.

• Adhere to laws and regulations concerning claims management.

• Engage defense attorneys as needed and oversee the defense of insured parties at higher levels.

• Identify, assess, and determine rights and obligations under relevant insurance policies.

• Collaborate with the Legal Department on coverage, compliance, and legal matters.

• Analyze, evaluate, and estimate liability for insured parties and losses for claimants/insureds.

• Detect and report potential fraud to the Special Investigation Unit.

• Assess claim settlement scenarios by applying decision theory principles.

• Establish and adjust appropriate case reserves.

• Review and approve or reject invoices.

• Maintain and evaluate claim diaries.

• Negotiate and resolve claims within authorized limits or submit requests for authority and recommendations.

• Keep accurate records of communications and maintain appropriate claim files.

• Provide information on assigned claims to managers and others as needed.

• Stay updated on insurance and claims management principles and practices.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.

• A minimum of three years of relevant work experience.

• Ability to interpret and apply insurance contracts.

• Knowledge of insurance claim procedures, loss evaluation techniques, and claim resolution options.

• Completion of insurance-related courses such as AIC or CPCU.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Strong analytical capabilities.

• Capacity to work autonomously while collaborating with others.

• Proficiency in conducting investigations.

• Skill in analyzing data, applying knowledge and logic, making recommendations, and drawing conclusions.

• Ability to obtain and maintain all necessary licenses and certifications.
