This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Analyze and manage intricate or technically challenging California workers' compensation claims.
β’ Investigate and collect information to assess claim exposure.
β’ Oversee claims with action plans to ensure appropriate and timely resolutions.
β’ Negotiate claim settlements within assigned authority limits.
β’ Calculate and allocate timely and suitable reserves.
β’ Monitor reserve adequacy throughout the duration of claims.
β’ Determine and disburse benefits owed; authorize and execute claim payments and adjustments.
β’ Finalize claims within designated authority thresholds.
β’ Prepare essential state filings within statutory timeframes.
β’ Oversee the litigation process and ensure efficient, cost-effective claims resolution.
β’ Report claims to the excess carrier and address requests for guidance.
β’ Identify subrogation opportunities and negotiate settlements.
β’ Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred.
β’ Professional certification relevant to the line of business preferred.
β’ A minimum of four (4) years of experience in California workers' compensation claims management or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
β’ Knowledge of California jurisdiction is essential.
β’ SIP certification is required or must be obtained within one year of hire.
β’ Experience in managing litigated and high-exposure claims.
β’ Capability to manage claims through investigation, benefit determination, settlement negotiation, and resolution.
β’ Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
β’ Excellent judgment, problem-solving abilities, and discretion.
β’ Ability to manage work-related stress and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
β’ Ability to meet deadlines effectively.
β’ Proficiency in keyboarding.
β’ Capable of hearing, seeing, and speaking.
