Senior People Operations, Payroll Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Take responsibility for the monthly payroll process across various countries, encompassing preparatory payroll accounting, data inputs, handovers, and final approvals with external payroll service providers.

• Ensure the maintenance of precise, compliant, and audit-ready employee master data within Personio and Deel.

• Oversee onboarding, leave management, offboarding, work time accounts, eAU administration, and the issuance of work certificates.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll providers, tax advisors, and auditors.

• Enhance processes, systems, and workflows through the implementation of automation and AI technologies.

• Assist in aligning employee benefits across different countries while adhering to local regulations.

• Collaborate with People Partners and Finance on payroll, reporting, and People-related processes.

• Address employee inquiries regarding payroll and HR administration.

• Provide guidance or mentorship to junior team members and manage larger process and system projects.

• Act as a strategic partner to People leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll and People/HR Operations, preferably including German payroll.

• Proven experience in coordinating payroll across multiple countries and collaborating with external providers.

• Strong understanding of relevant labor laws, tax regulations, and social security requirements.

• Hands-on experience with Deel and Personio is a significant advantage.

• A structured, dependable, and discreet working style, with a keen eye for detail and meeting deadlines.

• A pragmatic and improvement-oriented mindset.

• A curiosity about systems, automation, and AI innovations.

• Proficiency in both English and German.

• Demonstrated ownership of multi-country payroll and experience in leading process or system enhancements, or mentoring others.
