This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Ensure that payroll operations are in compliance with labor laws, governmental regulations, and internal policies.
• Supervise payroll processing for international educators utilizing Tax Navigator for tax form preparation and submissions for school districts.
• Train and assist staff in adhering to compliant payroll procedures.
• Prepare and file certified payroll reports.
• Guarantee compliance with federal, state, and local wage regulations, including prevailing wage laws.
• Maintain comprehensive records and documentation for audits and Department of Labor requirements.
• Process timekeeping, wage calculations, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions for both U.S. and international personnel.
• Ensure payroll runs are timely and accurate, addressing any discrepancies or adjustments as necessary.
• Collaborate with HR regarding new hires, terminations, and changes to payroll.
• Prepare and present payroll reports for both internal and external audit purposes.
• Address audit inquiries and keep records up-to-date and compliant.
• Input and modify payroll information within the payroll system.
• Ensure correct tax withholding, reporting, and filing in accordance with IRS regulations.
• Coordinate with HR on the processing and reporting of benefit deductions.
• Respond to employee questions about payroll matters, paycheck details, deductions, and benefits.
• Provide guidance on wage and hour policies, overtime regulations, and certified payroll processes.
• Manage international tax statuses and conduct annual tax orientation for new teachers.
• Supply school districts with teacher details, including experience, salary, tax treaty status, and non-resident classification.
• Compile and deliver tax information and forms during weekly orientation sessions.
• Act as the primary contact for payroll inquiries from school districts.
• Only candidates residing in North Carolina will be considered.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
• Experience with payroll software systems is essential.
• Prior experience in processing international payroll using Tax Navigator is preferred.
• Expertise in payroll software and systems is necessary.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws, including prevailing wage statutes.
• Experience in preparing and submitting certified payroll reports for government contracts is required.
• A high level of accuracy is essential, particularly in complex payroll calculations.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of employee payroll and personal information.
• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is preferred.
