This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Monitor accounts receivable activities and ensure timely resolution of patient accounts.
• Follow up on claim submissions and assess remittances for insurance collections.
• Initiate and manage disputed balances with governmental and non-governmental entities.
• Conduct telephone outreach related to collections with payors and patients.
• Navigate various computer systems and payer websites to ascertain account actions.
• Record claim statuses and account actions in the patient accounting system.
• Uphold daily productivity and quality standards while managing the inventory of collectible accounts.
• Investigate accounts and reach out to third-party payors or patients via phone, email, or online.
• Update plan IDs along with patient or payor demographic and insurance details.
• Recognize payor issues and trends, and address recoupment challenges.
• Request additional information and documentation from patients, medical records, and other sources as necessary.
• Review contracts, pinpoint billing or coding discrepancies, and initiate rebills, secondary billing, or corrections as needed.
• Open dispute records and escalate overdue payments or aged accounts to the Supervisor.
• Compile data to address payer, system, or escalated account challenges.
• Assist with special projects and communicate insights to leadership.
• Train or support new and existing staff to enhance productivity and quality.
• Provide coverage for absent or overburdened team members.
• Attend meetings, training seminars, and in-service sessions.
• High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
• 2-5 years of experience in Medical/Hospital Insurance collections.
• Minimum typing speed of 45 words per minute.
• Comprehensive understanding of the revenue cycle process from patient access to Patient Financial Services.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Intermediate technical proficiency including PC and MS Outlook.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Above-average analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
• Ability to make informed decisions.
• Full understanding of Commercial, Managed Care, Medicare, and Medicaid collections.
• Intermediate knowledge of Managed Care contracts, contract language, and federal and state regulations for government payors.
• Advanced knowledge of UB-04 and Interpretation of Benefits (EOB).
• Intermediate familiarity with CPT and ICD-9 coding.
• Advanced understanding of insurance billing, collections, and relevant terminology.
• Capability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
• Must obtain and provide confirmation of necessary vaccinations and screenings, as applicable and permitted by law, prior to employment.
• Signing bonus may be available for qualified new hires, contingent on employment status.
