This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee customer engagement, commercialization strategies, and PPA negotiations for utility-scale solar and storage projects.
• Transform projects in the development phase into contracted, revenue-generating assets.
• Collaborate with project development teams to effectively position the development pipeline for successful offtake.
• Work collaboratively across various functions including interconnection, finance, engineering, construction, asset management, insurance, and legal teams.
• Keep track of market fundamentals, customer demand trends, procurement activities, and regulatory changes.
• Develop commercial theses and presentations for Senior Management.
• Establish and nurture relationships with utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, load-serving entities, and corporate off-takers.
• Create marketing materials and commence bilateral offtake discussions with potential buyers.
• Lead the preparation of bid packages for RFPs and RFIs related to utility-scale solar, storage, and hybrid projects.
• Manage PPA negotiations from proposal development and initial term sheet through to contract execution.
• Act as the primary point of contact for PPA counterparties and facilitate commercial discussions.
• Aid in resolving issues that arise during negotiations.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to develop issue lists and negotiation strategies.
• Design commercial terms aimed at minimizing company-controlled risks.
• Produce memoranda, strategic decks, and board presentations for governance reviews.
• At least five years of experience in energy markets, or seven years in utility-scale renewable energy projects.
• Understanding of essential concepts related to renewable project PPAs.
• Excellent writing skills.
• Capability to read and comprehend legal documents and contracts.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented while maintaining a broad perspective.
• Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional experts on complex projects.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% to meet with clients.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Preference for candidates residing in the Eastern U.S.
• Experience managing solar, wind, or battery PPA negotiations from bid stage to execution is preferred.
• Knowledge of Eastern U.S. power market design is preferred.
• Familiarity with evaluating quantitative implications of PPA provisions, such as curtailment, LMP basis, battery charging restrictions, and real-time versus day-ahead bidding strategies is preferred.
• Understanding of power procurement regulatory processes, including IRPs, RPS, and rate cases is preferred.
• Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States.
