This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain the enterprise ontology (aligned with BFO/CCO) and controlled vocabularies, while mapping data from source systems into these structures.

• Construct and oversee the knowledge graph utilizing an RDF triple store, employing SHACL validation, and executing SPARQL queries.

• Establish a governed ingestion pathway to ensure that extracted content is integrated into the graph with appropriate provenance and confidence, and link the graph to retrieval and GenAI applications.

• Engage in full-stack development alongside ontology responsibilities, including Python services, web user interface, and AWS.

• Collaborate within a small Scrum team and demonstrate functional software at the end of each sprint.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active Secret OR Top Secret Clearance is required.

• A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in semantic technology, including OWL, RDF/Turtle, SHACL, and SPARQL.

• Proven experience in building ontologies that are aligned with an upper ontology, with a strong preference for BFO and CCO.

• Production-level experience with a triple store (such as Apache Jena/Fuseki, RDF4J, or similar technologies).

• Strong general software engineering skills in Python, APIs, and Git, with the ability to manage full-stack tasks (web + AWS), not limited to ontology work alone.

• Familiarity with LLMs and RAG, demonstrating the ability to connect structured knowledge to generative applications.
