Senior Network Engineer – Projects

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and manage enterprise-level LAN, WAN, WLAN, and security infrastructures.

• Configure and resolve issues with equipment from Cisco, Cisco Meraki, SonicWall, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, Extreme Networks, and HP Aruba.

• Set up and troubleshoot virtual network appliances in Microsoft Azure.

• Execute routing, switching, and wireless solutions according to project requirements.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver network solutions that align with business objectives.

• Create network documentation, diagrams, and configuration standards.

• Engage in capacity planning, risk assessments, and projects aimed at network improvement.

• Keep abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.

• Operate within a managed services environment with access to client systems, data, and infrastructure.

• May take part in on-call support for urgent project requirements.

• Travel regularly to customer locations to meet on-site obligations.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of IT experience, including more than 5 years of progressive network engineering experience.

• Extensive technical expertise in Cisco, Cisco Meraki, and SonicWall.

• Advanced hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure networking, as well as with Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Extreme Networks, and HP Aruba technologies.

• Proficient skills in routing, switching, and Wi-Fi configuration.

• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, QoS, firewall policies, and network segmentation.

• High proficiency in troubleshooting complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 network issues.

• Excellent documentation and communication skills.

• Capability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.

• A collaborative approach and keen attention to detail.

• Willingness to travel to customer sites up to 50% of the time for remote employees based outside Pittsburgh or Columbus.

• Must successfully pass state and federal background checks, as well as additional checks required by certain clients.

• Must handle client and company information with care and adhere to security and data privacy protocols.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience (preferred).

• Previous experience in an MSP environment, relevant industry certifications, familiarity with network monitoring tools, and cloud networking experience (preferred).
