
Principal/Lead Network Engineer – SAP RISE

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +2 more states.
• Create comprehensive enterprise network architecture that links on-premises data centers, corporate offices, distribution centers, and Azure SAP RISE infrastructure.
• Design Azure VNets, utilizing hub-and-spoke or Azure Virtual WAN topologies, including NSGs, route tables, Azure Firewall/NVA placement, and private DNS zones.
• Establish private connectivity via Azure ExpressRoute and/or site-to-site VPN as a backup solution.
• Implement SAP RISE cross-VNet and cross-tenant connectivity in collaboration with SAP’s RISE delivery team.
• Enhance network performance for SAP GUI, Fiori, RFC/BAPI, IDoc, BW, and database replication traffic.
• Design hybrid DNS resolution and ensure secure network segmentation.
• Create network connectivity solutions for SAP integration points and end-user access.
• Develop high-availability and disaster-recovery network architectures.
• Formulate phased network migration plans aligned with SAP RISE migration cycles.
• Construct proof-of-concept and pilot network environments.
• Specify and implement network acceptance criteria and performance testing.
• Write cutover runbooks and rollback procedures.
• Lead network war-room initiatives during go-live weekends.
• Oversee the decommissioning of legacy network paths post-migration.
• Manage the network workstream, providing status updates and addressing risks, issues, and decisions.
• Collaborate with teams across SAP RISE, Azure, security, infrastructure, Basis, functional areas, and development.
• Coordinate with vendors, carriers, ExpressRoute providers, and Azure support services.
• Establish network governance and operational standards.
• Propel network automation and infrastructure-as-code initiatives using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
• Offer technical leadership and mentorship to network engineers.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field.
• Over 10 years of experience in progressively senior network engineering positions.
• Extensive knowledge in networking, encompassing cloud networking, SD-WAN, cybersecurity, and enterprise architecture.
• Possession of leadership certifications or relevant experience, such as TOGAF, ITIL, or PMP.
• Outstanding communication and leadership abilities.
• Experience in team management and fostering relationships with individuals at various organizational levels.
• Proven track record of launching and delivering IT projects within budget and on schedule.
• Practical experience in large-scale environments and optimizing business processes.
• Demonstrated capability to lead change, make calculated decisions, and pursue ongoing improvement.
• Proficient in effective oral and written communication with customers, colleagues, and management.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Excellent presentation capabilities.
• Ability to build relationships with vendors, negotiate terms, and manage vendor deliverables.
