This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Implement, troubleshoot, and repair Starlink ground equipment in collaboration with engineers and specialists.
• Travel both domestically and internationally to address hardware challenges impacting Starlink user services.
• Identify failures in fiber optic circuits and execute repairs to restore full functionality.
• Investigate and resolve problems with onsite commercial network and routing hardware.
• Enhance existing training materials and develop new documentation to foster continuous skill development within the team.
• High school diploma or equivalent certification.
• Over 2 years of experience as a mechanic or technician in an engineering domain, such as telecommunications or internet service provision.
• Proficient in MS Office, Visio, and various web applications.
• Capable of reading, comprehending, and adhering to electrical/mechanical diagrams and schematics.
• Experience in the construction or maintenance of cell towers and sites.
• Familiarity with low earth orbit tracking antennas, stabilizers, or VSAT antennas.
• Background in fiber optics, network and telephony installation, and/or AV installation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair using fiber optic testing equipment (OTDR, OLS, OPM, VFL).
• Experience in constructing IT/network racks, which includes UPS, PDUs, cable management, servers, and network devices.
• Knowledge of facilities and infrastructure construction and maintenance, including diesel/natural gas generators and DC battery banks.
• Proficient in installing, activating, or troubleshooting CWDM and/or DWDM using standard fiber testing equipment.
• Experience operating articulating boom lifts, forklifts, scissor lifts, and other construction machinery.
• Familiarity with low-voltage AC and DC power distribution; understanding of Ohm’s Law; ability to safely use a multimeter.
• Ability to differentiate between various colors and possess manual dexterity for intricate tasks.
• Willingness to travel as required; approximately 75% travel to U.S. or international gateway sites.
• General physical fitness with the capacity to lift up to 50 lbs. for certain tasks.
• Capability to stand, kneel, crouch, twist the upper body, work in confined spaces, climb hand over hand, and work at heights.
• Ability to operate effectively in extreme outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
• Capability to work in environments with fumes, odors, and noise.
• For ITAR compliance, must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or eligible to obtain the necessary U.S. Department of State authorizations.
