Senior Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a senior technical and escalation authority for intricate network engineering and operational challenges.

• Spearhead the planning, design, implementation, and optimization of sophisticated network infrastructure across diverse, multi-vendor environments.

• Evaluate technical obstacles and apply corrective measures to enhance network reliability, performance, and security.

• Design, configure, maintain, and resolve issues related to enterprise routing and switching infrastructure.

• Engineer and provide support for Cisco Firepower, FMC, ASA, firewall policies, access controls, and security enhancements.

• Create, implement, and maintain site-to-site and remote-access VPN solutions.

• Facilitate hybrid cloud connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and AWS services.

• Support enterprise wireless networking and network access control technologies, including Cisco ISE.

• Oversee infrastructure upgrades, modernization efforts, lifecycle replacements, and security remediation.

• Assess network performance, availability, capacity, and emerging needs; suggest enhancements.

• Lead intricate incident investigations and root cause analyses.

• Collaborate with customers, program leadership, cybersecurity teams, vendors, and service providers.

• Develop network architecture documentation, configuration standards, implementation plans, and operational procedures.

• Assist in incident, problem, change, and service request management processes.

• Provide mentorship, peer review, and engineering direction to junior and mid-level engineers.

• Identify opportunities for network automation, standardization, and procedural improvements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must possess or be capable of obtaining a Public Trust clearance.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field with 8+ years of pertinent network engineering experience; additional education and experience may be considered.

• Advanced practical experience in designing, implementing, administering, and troubleshooting complex enterprise network infrastructures in production settings.

• Expert-level understanding of BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VRFs, routing redundancy, and network failover.

• Experience solving complex network problems across multiple systems, technologies, or engineering disciplines.

• Experience with enterprise firewalls, access control policies, and VPN connectivity.

• Experience with Cisco and/or Juniper enterprise networking platforms.

• Experience in hybrid cloud connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and AWS.

• Proven experience in leading complex network troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.

• Familiarity with planning and executing network changes, upgrades, and security remediation in production environments.

• Experience in developing technical recommendations and collaborating with customers, engineering teams, vendors, and service providers.

• Ability to produce network diagrams, technical documentation, configuration standards, and implementation procedures.

• Strong communication abilities and direct collaboration with customers, vendors, and ISPs.

• Hands-on experience with Juniper EX/QFX and Junos OS; Cisco ISR and IOS; ASA; Firepower and FMC.

• Experience with routing/switching protocols and core infrastructure services.

• Experience managing AWS VPC, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, and load balancers.

• Experience with Cisco AnyConnect/Secure Client remote-access VPN.

• Familiarity with VMware/vSphere as it relates to network design and connectivity.

• Experience with wireless infrastructure and NAC solutions like Cisco ISE.

• Experience with Cisco CUCM/UC voice solutions.

• Capable of obtaining a baseline 8140 certification (IAT Level II: CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, or SSCP) within 90 days.

• Preferred: Cisco CCNA.

• Preferred: Cisco CCNP or Juniper JNCIP-ENT.

• Preferred: Experience/certification in Cisco Meraki wireless, Cisco ISE, Dell switches and OS10, ServiceNow, and Security+ CE.
