Senior Consultant I – Network Security Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Engineer, support, and uphold enterprise network security platforms, encompassing Palo Alto Networks and associated technologies.

• Design, execute, assess, and validate network security solutions across both enterprise and cloud environments.

• Diagnose intricate network, firewall, routing, connectivity, and application communication challenges.

• Create and sustain automation through scripting, APIs, Infrastructure as Code, and configuration management tools.

• Construct and support CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment, testing, validation, and configuration management.

• Establish automated pre- and post-change validation procedures.

• Integrate security platforms with monitoring, deployment, and operational tools.

• Automate repetitive operational tasks to minimize manual effort and enhance platform scalability.

• Assist with upgrades, vulnerability remediation, technology refreshes, and modernization initiatives.

• Collaborate with network, cloud, security, and application teams.

• Contribute to technical evaluations, process enhancements, and engineering best practices.

• Maintain technical documentation, operational protocols, scripts, and automation.

• Offer technical support and knowledge sharing to team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• Robust background in network engineering and network security.

• Profound understanding of TCP/IP, routing, subnetting, NAT, DNS, and application connectivity.

• Experience in engineering, implementing, or supporting enterprise firewall and network security platforms.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts, practices, and version-controlled infrastructure.

• Practical experience in developing scripts and automation for infrastructure engineering and operational scenarios.

• Working knowledge of Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar programming languages.

• Experience with REST APIs or other programmatic interfaces.

• Proficiency in developing, maintaining, or working with CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience utilizing source control and version-control methodologies, such as Git-based workflows.

• Expertise in troubleshooting complex infrastructure, network connectivity, and security issues.

• Capability to independently analyze technical requirements and implement solutions within established standards.

• Ability to take ownership and propel technical work through implementation and validation with minimal oversight.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills across infrastructure, security, networking, cloud, and application teams.

• Preferred: Practical experience with Ansible.

• Preferred: Practical experience with Palo Alto Networks Firewalls and Panorama or similar platforms.

• Preferred: Experience with AWS, Azure, or other public cloud environments.

• Preferred: Understanding of VPN technologies, network segmentation, and load balancing.

• Preferred: Experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.

• Preferred: Experience developing reusable automation frameworks, modules, or tools.

• Preferred: Experience with enterprise change-management and IT service-management processes.

• Preferred: Experience in a DevOps or product-oriented engineering environment.

• Preferred: Experience modernizing traditional infrastructure through automation and Infrastructure as Code.
