Lead Consultant – Network Security

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the principal engineer and technical expert for enterprise network security platforms as well as third-party applications.

• Design, manage, and enhance firewall and network security systems across various enterprise environments.

• Advocate for and implement an Infrastructure as Code methodology for provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management.

• Create and sustain CI/CD pipelines to automate the configuration, validation, testing, and deployment of infrastructure.

• Develop automation solutions utilizing Ansible, APIs, scripting, and other relevant automation technologies.

• Craft solutions that minimize manual operational tasks and enhance the consistency and repeatability of infrastructure modifications.

• Offer technical direction on Palo Alto Networks firewall technologies or similar enterprise firewall/security solutions.

• Collaborate with networking, cloud, application, security, and infrastructure teams to create and execute secure connectivity solutions.

• Diagnose intricate network and security challenges across application, network, firewall, and cloud environments.

• Set engineering benchmarks, reusable automation templates, and technical best practices.

• Spot chances to enhance platform reliability, resilience, scalability, and operational efficiency.

• Engage in upgrades, platform modernization, capacity planning, vulnerability remediation, and technology refreshes.

• Oversee technical implementation initiatives and provide engineering mentorship to other team members.

• Generate and update technical documentation, operational procedures, and engineering standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Robust background in network engineering and network security.

• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, subnetting, NAT, DNS, VPN technologies, network segmentation, load balancing, and application connectivity.

• Experience in engineering or supporting enterprise firewall solutions, preferably Palo Alto Networks or similar technologies.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code principles, practices, and tools.

• Practical experience with Ansible for infrastructure configuration and automation tasks.

• Experience in developing or supporting CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure or application deployments.

• Proficiency in integrating infrastructure platforms via REST APIs or other programmatic interfaces.

• Working knowledge of Python, PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting/programming languages utilized for automation.

• Experience in troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues across various technology domains.

• Ability to convert technical requirements into scalable and maintainable engineering solutions.

• Excellent communication skills with the capability to collaborate across engineering, operations, application, and security teams.

• Candidates selected for this position must undergo a background check.
