Senior .NET Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, maintain, and continually enhance a large-scale production application.

• Collaborate with the Technical Lead to establish technical direction, engineering standards, and development best practices.

• Create, enhance, and maintain microservices and RESTful APIs utilizing C# and .NET.

• Develop and support cloud-native applications on AWS GovCloud.

• Construct scalable, resilient, and highly available services capable of processing millions of messages monthly.

• Develop and support event-driven and asynchronous solutions with RabbitMQ and AWS SQS.

• Design and optimize PostgreSQL data access and persistence solutions on AWS RDS.

• Deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher.

• Facilitate machine learning capabilities within the microservices architecture.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools, code generation technologies, AI agents, and AI frameworks.

• Review AI-generated code for architecture, security, maintainability, performance, and coding standards.

• Conduct code reviews, mentor developers, and promote engineering best practices.

• Maintain code quality and security through automated scanning and static analysis, including SonarQube.

• Manage source code and CI/CD workflows utilizing Azure DevOps.

• Diagnose and resolve issues related to performance, scalability, reliability, messaging, database, and integration.

• Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to monitor production health and availability.

• Support releases, deployments, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.

• Engage in occasional after-hours support for releases and critical incidents.

• Enhance architecture, performance, resiliency, observability, automation, and developer productivity.

• Take part in Agile planning, estimation, design reviews, and continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.

• Over 8 years of professional software development experience, including substantial work with enterprise-scale production applications.

• Expert-level hands-on proficiency with C#, .NET Core, and modern .NET (such as .NET 8/9/10 or similar).

• Strong experience in designing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.

• Experience in developing and operating applications within AWS, ideally AWS GovCloud.

• Extensive Docker and Kubernetes experience in production settings.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes management platforms like Rancher.

• Experience with asynchronous, event-driven, or message-based applications using RabbitMQ and AWS SQS.

• Strong PostgreSQL development skills, including database design, query optimization, and performance troubleshooting.

• Experience with AWS RDS or similar managed relational database services.

• Understanding of distributed systems, high-availability architectures, scalability, resiliency, and production performance.

• Experience supporting high-volume production systems and troubleshooting complex issues across application, database, messaging, container, and infrastructure layers.

• Ability to take technical ownership of a significant codebase and independently drive complex engineering initiatives.

• Experience in performing code reviews and mentoring developers.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development and code-generation tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar technologies.

• Ability to validate, secure, test, and maintain AI-generated code.

• Experience with SonarQube or similar static code analysis tools.

• Proficiency with Azure DevOps repositories, source control, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevSecOps practices.

• Understanding of secure software development practices for enterprise and Federal environments.

• Willingness to provide occasional after-hours support for production releases and critical incidents.

• US Citizenship is required.

• Preferred: experience with AWS GovCloud, Federal Government applications, machine learning integration, AI agents/frameworks, distributed messaging at scale, observability, Infrastructure as Code, FISMA/NIST/FedRAMP, Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps, along with AWS/Kubernetes/cloud certifications.
