Senior MS SQL DBA

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mississippi, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Manage and provide support for SQL Server and cloud databases for the Tolling Engineering and Operations Team.

• Offer help desk and application support as part of a rotating team.

• Oversee database performance to ensure uptime and availability.

• Resolve application and database issues related to connectivity, access, and security.

• Optimize long-running SQL queries.

• Evaluate and enhance database tasks and processes to meet agency and group priorities.

• Utilize operating system scripting tools for database maintenance, diagnosis, and support.

• Assess database implementations and recommend, implement, or oversee necessary modifications.

• Conduct SQL Server installations, including versions 2022 and 2025+ with failover clustering configurations.

• Administer, support, and optimize SQL Server databases.

• Collaborate with Engineering and Operations professionals.

• Convey information clearly and effectively in both speech and writing.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server databases.

• At least 1 year of experience with Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks; certification may substitute for experience.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or other relevant fields, or equivalent skills and work history.

• Proven experience in effective communication using standard requirements and design documentation.

• Expertise as a SQL Server DBA.

• Familiarity with SQL clustering, mirroring, and high availability setups.

• Experience managing large SQL databases.

• Proficient in writing Transact-SQL.

• Skilled in tuning SQL Server databases.

• Experience with the installation, upgrading, patching, and migration of SQL Server databases.

• Experience working within a Windows environment.

• Exposure to SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS.

• Familiarity with Azure Cloud.

• Knowledge of data modeling principles.

• Ability to independently tackle complex tasks.

• Capability to collaborate effectively with an Engineering and Operations team.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• A fingerprint-based background check is mandatory.
