This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania, +2 more states.
• Oversee intricate quotations for large and medium-voltage motors, drives, and significant projects from the initial Request for Quotation (RFQ) through to order handoff.
• Assist both inside and outside sales teams with motor selection, application inquiries, specifications, and technical troubleshooting.
• Analyze RFQs, specifications, bid packages, drawings, nameplates, and existing equipment data to assess suitable solutions.
• Identify replacements for obsolete motors and equipment, including frame upgrades, dimensional assessments, and manufacturer substitutions.
• Cross-reference products among various manufacturers to pinpoint technically suitable alternatives.
• Assess horsepower, speed, voltage, frequency, enclosure and cooling methods, bearings, thrust, service factor, starting requirements, hazardous locations, mounting, and additional application considerations.
• Specify accessories and instrumentation, including space heaters, RTDs, vibration sensors, bearing temperature devices, and related options.
• Provide support for medium-voltage motor opportunities while also offering drive application assistance.
• Collaborate directly with manufacturers to secure selections, pricing, drawings, lead times, and technical clarifications.
• Recognize specification exceptions, deviations, alternatives, and potential application challenges prior to proposal submissions.
• Create polished, professional quotation packages that showcase the proposed solution, scope of supply, technical data, drawings, options, exceptions, and supporting information.
• Manage quotation revisions and technical clarifications as projects progress.
• Engage directly with customers when technical expertise can aid in defining an application or advancing an opportunity.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in the electric motor, drive, or closely related industry is preferred; however, strong candidates with at least 5 years will be considered.
• Solid working knowledge of industrial electric motors and their applications.
• Experience with medium-voltage motors and/or medium-voltage drives is strongly preferred.
• Background in large motors, obsolete equipment replacements, frame conversions, and manufacturer cross-referencing.
• Strong understanding of motor enclosures and cooling methods, including TEFC, WPI, WPII, TEAAC, TEWAC, and similar designs.
• Familiarity with hazardous-location requirements, bearings, thrust applications, starting considerations, motor accessories, and instrumentation.
• Capability to interpret motor nameplates, dimensional drawings, specifications, bid documents, and other technical information.
• Experience in reviewing and responding to complex commercial and technical bid packages.
• Ability to independently analyze a complex RFQ, determine what should be proposed, and develop a technically complete proposal.
• Skill in organizing intricate technical and commercial information into a clear, polished, customer-ready quotation package.
• Exceptional communication, follow-up, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Experience with Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) applications is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in working with CRM, ERP, Microsoft Office, email, and other sales technologies.
• An engineering degree is not mandatory; industry experience, technical judgment, and the ability to solve practical motor and drive applications are highly valued.
