This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead the development of native SDKs for iOS and Android BLE devices.
• Take ownership of connection reliability, data throughput, and battery performance across various phones, operating system versions, and real-world conditions.
• Collaborate with the Devices team on firmware interfaces, GATT profiles, and device functionalities.
• Expose device functionalities to React Native applications through well-structured, thoroughly tested native modules.
• Manage the observability of device connectivity using telemetry and field feedback to identify and rectify failure modes.
• Help define the roadmap and technical strategy for the mobile platform.
• Enhance BLE pairing and reconnection reliability for both iOS and Android platforms.
• Improve the robustness of EEG streaming, including recovery from dropped connections and handling background operations.
• Develop device-side support for an in-app EEG signal-quality validation feature.
• Implement diagnostics to assist Clinical Operations in troubleshooting device issues in the field.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in mobile development, with a strong background in native iOS (Swift) and/or Android (Kotlin).
• Practical experience in integrating BLE peripheral devices into production mobile applications, including pairing/bonding, reconnection, background operations, and data throughput (e.g., Core Bluetooth, Android BLE APIs).
• Familiarity with sensor integration or streaming health data from wearable devices.
• A meticulous approach to reliability, edge cases, device fragmentation, and performance.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work comfortably in a collaborative, asynchronous environment.
• Bonus: Experience building production React Native applications, or developing native modules for React Native or Expo.
• Bonus: Familiarity with TypeScript and the broader technology stack (React Native, Expo, GitHub).
• Bonus: Experience working with medical devices, EEG technology, or wearables.
