This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.
• Assist clients in assessing and formulating mining solutions, encompassing mine access planning, selection of mining methods, strategies for mine development, and necessary supporting infrastructure.
• Contribute to the design of open pit mines, including phase planning and optimization to ensure safe and efficient resource extraction.
• Execute design for waste dumps, haul roads, fleet evaluations, and equipment analysis.
• Create mine schedules and production plans under the supervision of a senior mining engineer.
• Support the estimation of capital and operational costs for engineering studies and project assessments.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary engineering teams.
• Produce engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and design documentation.
• Engage in interdisciplinary design reviews and assist in resolving technical issues.
• Offer engineering assistance during field investigations, construction, commissioning, and operational troubleshooting.
• Travel approximately 20% of the time, both domestically and internationally, including occasional extended assignments.
• Ensure adherence to client requirements, industry standards, and AECOM quality protocols.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related engineering field, along with 4+ years of relevant experience, or a demonstrated equivalent of experience and/or education.
• Proficient in using mine planning software, such as MineSight (MPSO), Deswik (Spatial-LHS-IS), Datamine (NPVS/Minemax), Vulcan, or comparable applications.
• Experience with pit optimization software, such as Whittle.
• Background in supporting conceptual, prefeasibility, feasibility, or detailed engineering projects.
• Knowledge of open pit mine planning, production scheduling, haulage analysis, and equipment selection.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary engineering teams while managing several project assignments.
• Engineer-in-Training certification or progress towards Professional Engineer licensure is viewed as an asset.
