Senior Medical Science Liaison, Rheumatology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as the field-based scientific and clinical authority on current and upcoming Johnson & Johnson Innovative products.

• Create and execute a scientific engagement strategy that aligns with Medical Affairs objectives and goals.

• Facilitate a two-way scientific dialogue with key opinion leaders and healthcare professionals.

• Build professional relationships with community and academic healthcare providers/key opinion leaders (HCPs/KOLs).

• Utilize MSL tools and insights to strategize customer interactions and identify gaps, risks, and opportunities.

• Leverage AI tools and insights to enhance decision-making, processes, efficiency, and outcomes.

• Assess provider educational needs and deliver tailored, scientifically balanced responses.

• Present scientific data through clear communication and presentations that simplify complex clinical evidence.

• Gather and disseminate actionable insights that inform medical strategy, asset planning, and cross-functional discussions.

• Assist investigators and internal partners with company-sponsored and investigator-initiated studies.

• Address unsolicited research and clinical inquiries with objective, compliant information.

• Implement Medical Affairs strategy and MSL priorities while adapting to changing data and organizational goals.

• Collaborate compliantly with MSL field partners, R&D, US and Global Medical Affairs, clinical operations, Sales, and Marketing.

• Maintain scientific knowledge through self-study, journal clubs, seminars, congresses, and peer discussions.

• Promote inclusion and belonging while supporting collaborative One J&J objectives.

• Stay informed on regulatory, healthcare compliance, corporate conduct, and Medical Affairs policies.

• Develop performance and development plans and lead projects in collaboration with the direct manager.

• Fulfill administrative requirements such as expense reports and activity documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctorate level degree or equivalent experience is required (PharmD, PhD, MD, Advanced Practice Providers, etc.).

• Postgraduate experience is required for Doctoral level candidates, with preference for therapeutic clinical experience.

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, including proven success as an MSL.

• Strong scientific and therapeutic expertise in research, data analysis, clinical knowledge, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Capability to support a defined territory with up to 70% travel.

• A valid US Driver’s License is preferred.

• Residency or fellowship experience is preferred.

• Familiarity or experience in the therapeutic area is preferred.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CoPilot, computers, and remote technologies.

• Related clinical, research, or pharmaceutical work experience is preferred.

• A commitment to learning emerging technologies such as AI.

• Must be located in a major metropolitan area; Minneapolis or Ann Arbor is preferred.
