Senior Medical Science Liaison – Orthopedics

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as the scientific and clinical authority for Vericel's Orthopedic portfolio within the designated region.

• Build and sustain strategic partnerships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), researchers, academic institutions, and healthcare providers.

• Offer well-rounded, evidence-based scientific discourse and education.

• Represent Vericel at scientific congresses, advisory boards, investigator meetings, and medical forums.

• Provide non-promotional scientific assistance for both marketed and investigational orthopedic products.

• Educate healthcare practitioners through presentations, site visits, investigator meetings, advisory boards, and educational initiatives.

• Assist Medical Affairs planning by offering scientific insights and recommendations.

• Collaborate with Clinical Development and Research teams on clinical trials and post-market studies.

• Guide Investigator Sponsored Studies through established internal procedures.

• Identify opportunities to enhance clinical evidence supporting the Orthopedic franchise.

• Relay scientific, clinical, competitive, and healthcare system insights gathered from the field.

• Transform external insights into recommendations that bolster Medical Affairs strategy, clinical development, publications, and commercial planning.

• Contribute scientific expertise to cross-functional projects.

• Share best practices and engage in internal scientific education, journal clubs, training programs, and Medical Affairs initiatives.

• Address unsolicited medical information inquiries utilizing approved scientific resources.

• Keep precise records of field medical activities and customer interactions.

• Fulfill necessary compliance, scientific, and operational training.

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced scientific or clinical degree: MS, MSN, DPT, PA, NP, PharmD, PhD, or MD.

• At least 5 years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison or in a similar Medical Affairs role.

• Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, regenerative medicine, or related therapeutic fields.

• Proven expertise in orthopedics, cartilage restoration, sports medicine, regenerative medicine, musculoskeletal therapeutics, cell therapy, or related areas.

• Strong foundation in scientific and clinical knowledge.

• Ability to effectively communicate complex data to healthcare professionals.

• Exceptional presentation, relationship-building, communication, and influencing abilities.

• Capacity to foster trusted relationships with KOLs and academic institutions.

• Ability to work autonomously and collaborate within cross-functional teams.

• Must live within a reasonable distance from a major airport.

• Experience in supporting regenerative medicine or cell therapy products.

• Experience participating in advisory boards, investigator meetings, or publication planning.

• Previous mentoring or leadership experience in a field medical organization.

• Background in supporting clinical research and evidence-generation efforts.

• Willingness to travel up to 70% throughout the Northeast.
