Senior Mechanical Designer – Utilities, Central Energy

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Create drawings using AutoCAD, Plant 3D, and Revit.

• Develop high-quality construction documents and collaborate on design efforts with other engineering teams.

• Generate industrial project drawings, including General Arrangements, PIDs, 3D models, piping, and isometric drawings.

• Design comprehensive systems for designated projects and oversee the preparation of drawing documents.

• Work with stakeholders to provide technical support and direction.

• Cultivate and maintain client relationships.

• Organize and facilitate design meetings and drawing evaluations.

• Represent KFI in project meetings.

• Plan and carry out fieldwork and site visits.

• Estimate project hours and define the scope of work.

• Contribute to project budgeting and scheduling efforts.

• Mentor and provide training to junior designers on the job.

• Lead projects from start to finish and assist in project management activities.

• Maintain a proactive mindset while enhancing processes and technical capabilities.

• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• AAS Degree in design/drafting or equivalent professional experience.

• At least 10+ years of design experience.

• Proficiency in 3D design, mechanical general arrangements, piping systems, and piping and instrumentation diagrams.

• Experience in reviewing mechanical equipment drawings.

• Proven expertise in sophisticated layouts, measurements, and a technical understanding of systems and codes.

• Ability to complete contract plans for mechanical projects, whether small or large.

• Capability to autonomously carry out design tasks that do not necessitate engineering professional judgment.

• Strong project management abilities and the capacity to work independently on complex assignments.

• Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrated leadership qualities and the capacity to mentor and develop junior team members.

• Proficiency in computer technology and business software, including Microsoft Office.

• May require up to 10% domestic travel.

• Preferred proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D and/or Revit.

• Preferred 3+ years of industrial plant design experience.
