Senior Manager, Virtual Computing Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.

📋 Description

• Oversee enterprise-wide operational support and strategic direction for VDI, engineering compute platforms, and virtualization infrastructure.

• Create and implement long-term technology roadmaps, standards, and best practices.

• Lead and develop a team of IT professionals through cross-training, documentation, and knowledge sharing.

• Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, cloud, network, digital technology, and program organizations.

• Foster continuous improvement, platform resilience, operational sustainability, and customer satisfaction across global operations.

• Ensure high availability, security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness across virtual platforms.

• Assess proposed virtual solutions for operational supportability and compliance with infrastructure requirements.

• Design and manage KPIs for platform effectiveness, operational performance, and service delivery.

• Influence enterprise architecture and technology decisions, clearly communicating recommendations to both technical and executive stakeholders.

• Support business growth, onboarding of new programs, and requirements for emerging technologies.

• Identify opportunities to utilize emerging technologies to enhance system effectiveness, resource efficiency, and customer experience.

• Provide technical and operational leadership for complex challenges while balancing strategic priorities with production support.

⛳️ Requirements

• A University Degree or equivalent experience with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with a minimum of 7 years of experience.

• Proven experience in leading or supporting virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) in medium- to large-scale enterprise settings.

• Familiarity with virtualization technologies and architectures across compute, network, storage, application, and automation layers.

• Experience in developing technology strategies, roadmaps, and sustainable solutions in complex, 24/7 production environments.

• Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering reliable operational platforms in global production environments.

• Proven ability to partner with customers and senior leadership to provide oversight, ensure deliverables are met, and drive accountability for key milestones.

• Experience with UNIX/Linux/Solaris and/or Windows integration in medium- to large-scale environments.

• Knowledge of enterprise storage technologies such as NetApp and PowerMax.

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Experience in driving the adoption of cloud-based solutions.

• Working knowledge of cloud platforms and operational models that support high-availability environments.

• Strong understanding of private, public, and hybrid cloud architectures, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.

• Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud.

• Familiarity with VMware, Nutanix, and other virtualization technologies.

• Understanding of hyperconverged infrastructure solutions and architectures.

• Experience with networked storage platforms, including NetApp and PowerMax.

• Experience in developing operational standards, support models, and processes.

• Ability to influence enterprise technology decisions and articulate complex technical concepts to technical and executive stakeholders.
