This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the technical accounting operations of the company, emphasizing revenue recognition for services rendered under state Medicaid initiatives.
• Ensure that accounting policies adhere to U.S. GAAP standards, including ASC 606 and associated guidelines.
• Collaborate with Account Management, RCM, and FP&A teams to guarantee proper revenue recognition across state contracts.
• Assess revenue recognition practices for state and county contracts involving PMPM fees, per-transaction fees, cost-reimbursement agreements, and hybrid fee models.
• Examine revenue-related journal entries, account reconciliations, and management reporting documents.
• Analyze variable consideration, price concessions, rate modifications, retroactive adjustments, and alterations to contracts.
• Review new and renewed state contracts to ascertain recognition timing and treatment, including deferred fulfillment expenditures.
• Maintain policies for revenue recognition as well as contract-specific technical accounting position papers and memoranda.
• Investigate and document accounting positions for intricate transactions, such as leases, equity-based compensation, and derivatives.
• Prepare technical accounting memoranda and whitepapers that support significant judgments and estimates.
• Keep abreast of FASB updates and emerging guidance, documenting their implications.
• Assist with accounting for new state contract acquisitions, program expansions, mergers & acquisitions, and financing activities.
• Design and uphold internal controls regarding revenue recognition, contract billing, and related accounts.
• Act as the primary liaison for external auditors and lenders on revenue-related issues.
• Collaborate with RCM and Account Management to reconcile recognized revenue with state remittances and invoices.
• Support the month-end and quarter-end closing processes for revenue and related balance sheet accounts.
• Aid in fulfilling external reporting obligations, including compliance certificates.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA certification required (or actively pursuing it).
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, which includes public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) and/or technical accounting experience within an industry setting.
• Strong, practical knowledge of ASC 606 and experience applying it to complex, non-standard contracts.
• Thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP principles.
• Exceptional written communication skills, demonstrated through experience in drafting technical accounting memoranda.
