This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Manage the daily financial operations at Agentic Finance, encompassing bordereau and premium reconciliation, carrier and claims payments, premium accounts receivable, accounts payable, expense management, financial reporting, audit administration, and tax filings.
• Take charge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, expense management, and vendor administration.
• Assist the Controller with bordereau, carrier payment operations, audit administration, and financial reporting, with an opportunity to assume full responsibility for bordereau and carrier payment operations.
• Oversee premium accounts receivable, which includes invoicing, installment billing, cash application, aging, and follow-up on collections.
• Reconcile broker premium remittances into the premium trust account and escalate overdue balances and potential write-offs.
• Implement spend-management and accounts payable automation, including invoice coding, enforcement of card-spend policies, employee expense reimbursements, vendor records, W-9 collection, recurring vendor and brokerage fee payments, and program-level reimbursement invoicing.
• Prepare bordereau, premium reconciliations, carrier payment schedules, monthly loss fund reports, and claims payments.
• Manage annual company audits, respond to carrier audit financial requests, and handle the R&D tax credit response process.
• Assist with statutory reporting and regulatory filings for Counterpart Insurance Company.
• Maintain and enhance the accounting due dates calendar.
• Create recurring monthly and quarterly reporting packages for carrier partners for Controller review and approval.
• Coordinate with potential contractors, vendors, or offshore support as the accounting function expands.
• Develop and utilize agents to automate cash application for premium receivables, bordereau assembly, premium reconciliation, and claims payment processing.
• Input structured financial data and workflows into Counterpart's Intelligence System.
• Identify opportunities for agents to replace manual tasks and collaborate with the technical platform team to optimize workflows.
• Report to the Controller while collaborating with the Controller, VP of Finance, and Director of Pricing Analytics.
• 5-7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably in a high-growth company; experience in insurance, insurtech, or fintech is advantageous but not essential.
• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Familiarity with GAAP and STAT (Statutory Accounting Principles) and the ability to navigate within a regulated, multi-entity insurance environment.
• Proven history of owning and enhancing accounting processes from start to finish.
• Practical experience with an accounting system or ERP (such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar) and an AP/spend platform (like Ramp, Bill.com, or similar).
• A proven ability to utilize AI tools or agents to innovate reconciliations, payment processing, and routine bookkeeping tasks.
• Comfortable managing recurring payments, reconciliations, and time-sensitive filings across various systems and counterparties, including direct communication with banks, brokers, carriers, tax agencies, and auditors.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy on the first attempt.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Progress towards or an interest in pursuing a CPA is a plus, but not mandatory.
