Senior Manager, Supply Chain Planning

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage the sales and operations planning process.

• Establish a continuous demand forecast in collaboration with sales and engineering teams.

• Create a capacity model that encompasses contract manufacturer throughput, equipment limitations, and cell supply.

• Conduct a regular planning cycle to reconcile demand with capacity.

• Specify planning inputs, outputs, review frequency, and decision-making responsibilities.

• Perform scenario planning for demand increases, supplier delays, and capacity adjustments.

• Identify and escalate capacity and supply limitations, providing options and trade-offs.

• Take ownership of long-lead cell capacity planning in partnership with the cell procurement team.

• Monitor material availability in relation to the build plan.

• Manage the part shortage list and implement recovery plans effectively.

• Place and oversee purchase orders based on forecasts and production timelines.

• Liaise with suppliers regarding shipping dates and expedite orders at risk.

• Conduct material readiness assessments with contract manufacturers prior to build events.

• Collaborate with sourcing, procurement, and supplier quality teams on supplier performance, capacity, quality holds, and corrective measures.

• Assist in defining and recruiting for a dedicated materials execution position, transitioning day-to-day operations to that role as volumes increase.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in supply chain planning, S&OP, or demand planning within a hardware or industrial product setting.

• Proven, hands-on experience in establishing an S&OP or demand-capacity planning process from the ground up.

• Experience in an early-stage or resource-limited company is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with reconciling demand forecasts against manufacturing or supplier capacity limitations.

• Practical experience in materials execution, including purchase order management, supplier expediting, and tracking build readiness.

• Strong analytical and modeling capabilities.

• Competence in developing planning tools using Excel or similar software without a dedicated planning system.

• Proven ability to facilitate a cross-functional process that aligns engineering, sales, and leadership around a unified plan.

• Background in battery technology, energy storage, power electronics, or related hardware categories is preferred.

• Experience in planning for long-lead, high-value components such as battery cells or semiconductors is preferred.

• Knowledge of working with a contract manufacturer within a component-direct sourcing framework is preferred.

• Experience in scaling a company during rapid production increases is preferred.

• Must be eligible to work without visa sponsorship.
